Know Your Chiropractic History . . .

Did you know that joint manipulation has been practiced for thousands of years? Hippocrates, The Father of Medicine (460-370 BC), described manipulative procedures in his writings known as the Corpus Hippocrateum.

Socrates advised, 'If you would seek health, look first to the spine.' Other historical records have indicated that the effects of spinal corrections were recognized and used by health care providers in many societies even before the time of
Christ.

Galen (130-202 AD) the 'Prince of Physicians' earned the title when he relieved the paralysis of the right hand of Eudemas (a Roman scholar) by careful manipulation of his neck.

Bonesetters practiced the art of manipulation during the Middle Ages. Chiropractic care has been passed down from teacher to apprentice in Europe, North Africa, and Asia for generations.
